This notice explains what happens to your information when you use the Kerr’s Move app. It sits alongside our main website privacy notice, which covers kerrsremovals.co.uk.
We’ve written this notice to be clear about three things: what the app keeps on your phone, what the app sends to us or to third parties, and what choice you have over each.
The short version
Most of what you enter in the app stays on your phone. Some things are sent when you deliberately send them, for example when you submit a quote request or email us. The app also sends anonymous usage signals to help us understand which features people use.
We do not sell your information, we do not share it for marketing, and we do not use it to build an advertising profile of you.
What the app stores on your device
When you use the app you may enter information such as your name and contact details, your current and new addresses, your move date and the services you’ve booked, photos of meter readings at your old and new properties, photos and notes in the Document Store (for example, your insurance certificate, mortgage paperwork, or solicitor contact details), and your checklist progress and address-change tracker entries.
All of this is saved on your own device. It is not sent to Kerr’s, to any server, or to any third party unless you deliberately share it.
If you delete the app, reset your move setup from within the app, or clear all app data, this information is removed from your device.
What the app sends outside your device
There are three situations where information leaves your device. In each case, you choose to initiate it.
1. Quote requests submitted through the app
If you use the “Request a quote” feature in the app, it opens a web form hosted by our booking partner i-move.com. The details you enter in that form, typically your name, contact details, property details, items to move, and preferred dates, are submitted through i-move.com’s systems to our customer management system, where our team then handles your enquiry.
i-move.com is a specialist quotation and booking platform used by UK removals companies. They process the information you submit to us on our behalf. If you’d like to know more about their privacy practices, you can view their privacy notice on the i-move.com website.
2. Messages and requests you send us directly
Several features in the app, such as delivery requests for customers in storage, access requests, box collection requests, packing materials orders, and general enquiries, compose an email on your behalf and open it in your phone’s email app. You review and send it yourself. The information you choose to include in that email reaches us the same way any other email would.
You can also tap phone, email, or messaging links in the app to contact us directly. These actions use your phone’s own apps (Phone, Mail, Messages, WhatsApp) and follow the privacy terms of those apps.
3. Anonymous usage analytics
The app sends anonymous usage signals to a privacy-respecting analytics service called TelemetryDeck. These signals help us understand which parts of the app people actually use, so we can improve it over time.
The signals do not include your name, contact details, move date, addresses, Document Store contents, checklist entries, meter readings, or anything else you enter into the app. What TelemetryDeck receives is limited to event names describing what happened in the app (for example, “app opened”, “guide viewed”, “checklist task completed”) without identifying specific content where that would identify you; general device information such as iOS version, device model, and country; and a rotating identifier that TelemetryDeck hashes on device so we cannot tie signals back to you as an individual.
TelemetryDeck is a German company (TelemetryDeck GmbH) that specialises in privacy-first analytics for apps. They do not use tracking across apps or websites, do not build advertising profiles, and are designed to comply with UK GDPR and the EU GDPR. You can read their privacy notice at telemetrydeck.com.
If you’d prefer the app not to send these signals, we’re planning to add an opt-out setting in a future update. If this matters to you in the meantime, please let us know and we’ll prioritise it.
What the app does not do
The app does not create user accounts or require you to sign in. It does not upload your personal information, move details, or Document Store contents to any server. It does not share your data with third parties for marketing. It does not include advertising. It does not use cross-app or cross-website tracking. It does not sell data of any kind.
Permissions the app asks for
The app may ask for permission to send you notifications, so it can remind you about upcoming milestones like meter readings on moving day or checklist deadlines. These reminders are scheduled on your device and are not sent from our servers. You can turn them off at any time in your phone’s Settings.
The app may also ask to access your camera and photo library, so you can take or attach photos for your Document Store, meter readings, and other features that benefit from images. Any photos you add stay on your device unless you choose to share them.
Finally, the app may ask to access location metadata on photos you take from within the app, so meter reading photos can be tagged with the property they were taken at. This location information is saved with the photo on your device; we do not receive it.
You can change or revoke these permissions at any time in your phone’s Settings under Kerr’s Move.
Children
The app is intended for adults organising a move. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Your rights under UK data protection law
Because most of what the app does stays on your own device, there is often nothing for us to access, correct, or erase on our side. Deleting data from within the app, or uninstalling the app, removes everything the app holds locally.
Where information has been sent to us, through a quote form, a request, or an email, you have the following rights under UK GDPR: the right to be informed about what we do with your information (that’s what this notice and our website notice explain); the right of access to the information we hold about you; the right to rectification if anything is inaccurate; the right to erasure in certain circumstances; the right to restrict processing in certain circumstances; the right to data portability; and the right to object to processing in certain circumstances.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you have the right to complain to the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Legal basis for processing
Where we process information you send us through the app, we rely on the following legal bases under UK GDPR: your consent, when you deliberately submit a quote request or enquiry; performance of a contract, where we’re responding to enquiries that lead to or relate to a booking with us; and our legitimate interests, for the anonymous usage analytics described above, balanced against your privacy rights.
Third parties we work with
The following third parties may process information on our behalf or as a result of your actions in the app.
i-move.com hosts the quotation and booking form accessed through the app. When you submit a quote request, your details are processed through their platform and delivered to our customer management system.
TelemetryDeck GmbH receives anonymous usage signals as described above.
Apple distributes the app through the App Store, and the app uses iOS system features such as notifications, the camera, and photo library. Apple’s privacy practices are described in their own privacy policy.
We do not transfer personal information outside the UK or EEA for our own purposes. Some of the third parties above may process data in the EEA; in those cases we rely on the UK’s adequacy decisions and equivalent safeguards.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice from time to time, for example if we add new features or change a third-party provider. When we do, we’ll update the date at the top. If the changes materially affect your rights or expectations, we’ll make the update visible in the app.
